Artburst is a non-profit making organisation founded by Penny Embden and Amy Bicât.
The roots of the company are firmly grounded in the therapeutic application of the arts, a philosophy which has been explored separately by Artburst's founders; Penny Embden trained in Art Psychotherapy at Goldsmiths University www.goldsmiths.ac.uk and Amy Bicât holds a Certificate in the Therapeutic & Educational Application of the Arts at the Institute for Arts and Therapy in Education www.artspsychotherapy.org
Our purpose is to run well researched integrative arts workshops that encourage confidence and empowerment through the Arts. We believe that being creative and using the Arts for self expression gives you a firmer sense of who you are.
We work with a wide range of people from those with learning difficulties to those from disadvantaged backgrounds and many more in-between. We firmly believe that access to the Arts should not be exclusive.
We believe that everybody has the right to enjoy the arts therefore our workshops concentrate on the creative process not the end product.
Mission Statement:
- To encourage confidence and empowerment through the Arts
- To ensure that access to the Arts is not exclusive
- To provide high quality, well researched, Integrative Arts workshops
in rural and urban areas alike
